December 30 (2011):
Happy fucking new year. Oh man, time sucks, doesn't it? So this year, we played a neat little tour with The Smoking Popes, released an acoustic record and worked our asses off at our "real" jobs. You know what's more fun than work? Rock music. So we're going to try to get back into that.
A story that sums up our year:
We were playing at a little place in Seattle called The Josephine in support of our acoustic record. So we were playing acoustic. We were drunk. People were nice, and watched us play and even sang along. Very supportive. Occasional laughs were to be had when Julia slammed beers as she doesn't need to give her full two hands to some of the songs we've arranged as acoustic. We finish. Applause. And then someone yelled, "That was okay!" But in a really supportive way. And it was okay. Next year is going to be better than that, okay? Or at least louder.
August 30 (2011):
We're writing a record! No, for reals. Right now. Can't you hear Josh not doing the dishes and playing piano in the other room? So, yeah. That's what we're doing. Piano you ask? Maybe. Josh actually hangs out with the piano a lot. More than you would think. Enough to avoid most house cleaning.
Anyhow, Josh is going on tour this fall with The Velvet Teen (who recently launched a re-designed website!) to open for Minus the Bear. Then he'll also be playing for a bit for The Jealous Sound this winter. In between these things, we will continue to write, but it is looking like no shows for us till we get a few songs together for you.
Julia and Chris adopted a puppy, Stella. She has really sharp teeth and will do anything for treats. For instance, she will hold onto your finger with her really sharp teeth. We're letting her chew on Josh and Sara's dog, Murray, to dull down the teeth a bit.
May 15 (2011):
Yay! The CD for Battle to the Death just came in! It is now available at The Last Record Store in Santa Rosa, and is available at Saint Rose Records online. We're going to Portland and Seattle this month to play acoustic too, check out our shows!
We've updated our Lyrics page to include missing songs from Fast Moving... and from Battle to the Death.
April 5 (2011):
Introducing our new acoustic record available for download. "The New Trust & Friends : Battle to the Death." It will be available on CD in May through Saint Rose Records. It features acoustic versions of 5 old songs, 5 new songs, and also features our good friends covering our songs as well: Oddbird, Trebuchet, Hanalei, The Bunker, Battle of Hastings, Santiago, Themes and Judah Nagler of The Velvet Teen. Check it out on iTunes.

August 20 (2010):
We're going to do a week in Taiwan and a week in Japan this October. Check out this link to find our tourdates in Japan. We cannot wait to meet all the great people who made The Velvet Teen so welcome. Josh has always been in love with Japan, and now we'll know why.
April 7 (2010):
Practicing, writing, practicing, working, playing a couple shows. We're adding the tall, patient and talented Chris Brum (of Spires,Big Kids) to our lineup on guitar. Starting May 4 at Bottom of the Hill we will again be a four piece. Our acoustic record is slowly being recorded in the spare room, and there will be some exclusive stuff on it. We promise, however, that recording an acoustic record does not mean that we're officially old or anything. Right after this, we're going to record a record that our parents won't like at all (except Julia's mom, who seems to like the loud stuff too).
November 11 (2009):
Josh finished a fast little video we accidentally made when we borrowed a friend's underwater camera this summer.
October 28 (2009):
Please visit Vinyl Collective to buy our items. We'll be adding more with them in the next few weeks.
October 13 (2009):
Julia was interviewed at Drum! Magazine!
Tomorrow will be Sara and Josh's 9th wedding anniversary.
Josh gets home from touring with The Jealous Sound on Sunday, in time to attend Matthew Izen and Kerri Valentine's co-ed baby shower.
Our dog, Oly, has learned a new trick, "hands," where she tries to take both her paws and smack you in the face. Very nice.
We've added a couple Northern California shows for this November. Finally getting to play the Hemlock Tavern in San Francisco, which is my favorite place to see shows, though not my favorite place to park my car to see shows.
July 27 (2009):
Hi there! We're heading down the west coast this August with good friends American Steel. They have a great new record out this month, with Josh as a guest vocalist on a track. We'll be starting in San Francisco August 7th, heading down to LA, San Diego, Long Beach and Tempe AZ. Check out our Myspace for up to date show info.
For those in North Bay who haven't had enough fun this summer, we'll be playing at the slightly creepy but always cool Pee Wee Golf in Guerneville on August 6th with friends Spires, Not to Reason Why and more. $7 gets you in and some mini-golf too. Veggie BBQ and general outdoor fun will be in abundance.
May 21 (2009):
Sorry we've not spoken in a bit. We've been busy writing new songs, playing tons of shows and pulling termite ridden wood off our house. We'll be heading out on a West USA tour next week! Keep in touch and check out our shows at Myspace. We will be joining old friends The Action Design on many of the dates.
December 3 (2008):
"The New Trust are one of those 'hard-to-explain' bands. I’m not sure how a band can be described as tuneful and difficult at the same time but The New Trust seem to pull it off. Paired down to a three piece, the band continues to intrigue..." - Sound as Language
"Clocking in just shy of half an hour, these eight tracks pummel. In subject matter and tone, both beauty and the hideousness of human flaw are brought into focus with burning clarity on 'Get Vulnerable'. Whether it's the failures of punk, deceit by friends and lovers, raging guilt, or self-loathing, nothing is too taboo or left undisclosed. When all is done, the creators and the listeners are left open and raw, and while that may seem rather intimidating and uncomfortable, perhaps it's just what we all need." -Brian Moss, East Bay Express
"This is a band that personifies true synergy, with no one member standing out but instead all three working together to create something greater than the sum of their beings. Josh Staples’ angelic alto showcases a repertoire of yelps, whispers and hushed spoken word, while Sara Sanger’s wandering guitar riffs punctuate and drive – rather than define – the songs. And drummer Julia Lancer beats out as the unfailing heart at the center of the band. One thing is apparent with this album: The New Trust has not abandoned its sound. It has evolved." - Wonka Vision Magazine, Natalye Childress Smith

Our new record has joined our other releases at the iTunes Store! ![]()
Also, a quick apology for some of you who've not gotten your presale shipments yet. Our vinyl was done so close to our release date, that some of the farther away (Niles in Florida for example) have their records still in route. I owe you a hug. So sorry.

September 15:
The Bunker couldn't make it to our record release show, so here's his recording of Holy Wars. Pretty fucking good, and now we're really excited for the crazy party we're planning.
September 5 2008So much news today. We're finally done with our next record, "Get Vulnerable," and it will be out September 30th. You can pre order it right here on our site. It was engineered by Matthew Izen and mixed by Matt Bayles. It will be available on a limited edition white 12" format (with a CD inside for easy car listening), and also on CD. Check out our merch page for more info.
This record will be a self release, and we've been diligently assembling it all week. In an environmental turn, we've disassembled some old releases from back in the 90's when we owned a label, and reused cases (nice ones, promise). Josh has vetoed the shrink wrap by yelling, "too much fucking plastic!" at Sara.
We will be having a very confusing record release swim party followed by a night at the pub on October 4th, where you can play TNT songs for us. Seriously. Email us to check if your favorite song hasn't been claimed.
We've just added a show, October 26th, in Sacramento with Against Me!
Lyrics for our new record have been posted, so if you're wondering what this water theme is all about, check out "Breathe Underwater."
